State Championship

On April 30th the BASIS San Antonio Medical Center’s softball team competed in the Semi-Finals for the State Championship. They tied for 3rd place with another charter school team from Dallas. At the beginning of the tournament, they called out each player’s name: Ella Allen, Sydney Theis, Alexis Corral, Oriana Lemons, Trinity Welch, Melanie Narkunan, Isha Gowdaham, Olivia Bohne, Manaal Khan, Jackie Fidellow, and Jada Tirey. All of the girls played a major role in the game. Sydney scored the very first run. While the girls fought hard they came up short in the end, 11 to 1. They played a team from Houston who also had the same record as them, undefeated. Even though both teams seemed to be at the same skill level, the Houston team was more consistent with their plays, and the Badgers were not. But, for their first year playing in the competitive league, they did pretty good. They did not know what to expect, because this was their first time playing together as a team, and for their first time playing together as a team, they did really well.
